Predict and explain how this robot may be altered to perform more or different tasks in the future.
I predict that in the future ASIMO will be able to help in search and rescue missions after natural disasters and help handle or clean up toxic chemicals. For the search and rescue missions it would have to be altered to hold large amounts of weight and for handling toxic chemicals it would have to be altered to not malfunction due to the affects of the chemicals.
What type of jobs can this robot create to provide employment for people?
ASIMO can create jobs for maintenance of the robot and also design jobs for advancing the robot further on in the future.
What tasks does this robot perform?
Describe the impact ASIMO has had or could have on its intended audience.
The ASIMO robot is designed to perform simple and helpful tasks such as serving a tray of food and pushing a cart for those who are not able to.
ASIMO could have a very positive impact on its intended audience of people in need. It could do simple tasks for sick patients or those who are disabled which would be a big help to nurses and doctors.

How is the robot taught to perform its task?
The World's Most Advanced Humanoid Robot
- Pre-programming
- PC
- Wireless controls
- Hand gestures
- Voice commands
Where is the robot used?
What sensors does this robot have and how are they used?
Name some advantages and disadvantages of using a robot to complete this task.
ASIMO will be used in homes, offices, and possibly hospitals. For now it is only used for demonstrations due to the lack of experience.
- Visual sensors- Cameras in ASIMO's head help it see and recognize certain gestures that it can respond to and recognize faces.
- Auditory sensors- The microphone in ASIMO detects voices and other sounds so that it can perform a command. ASIMO can also recognize when its name is called.
- Ground sensors- Help it detect obstacles in a room to change its route to its destination.
- Advantages: ASIMO can perform these tasks with just one command (as long as it is programmed to do it)
- Disadvantages: ASIMO might not always know what you're telling it to do, It might be too expensive and need a lot of programming in order to help a person in need without another person controlling it.
