Essential Question

The essential question is: How do artist create special effects to entertain us?

My answer: Well when people see a action movie they want to see action! So it is fun when special effects are in a movie because the SFX crew uses their imagination to make the coolest things in movies to make movies better.

How CGI works

CGI has many steps to it. First thing is the SFX crew draws a figure on sketching app. Then after the first sketch is done the SFX crew edits it. After editing they try to see if they can get the drawing to look more releastic. After the SFX crew does that they edit it into the movie. If the drawing has moving parts they have to repeat the steps to get the object to move. It takes a lot of work to do that. Its almost like stop motion.

SFX: SFX means Special Effects

CGI

CGI is special effects made on a computer. CGI stands for Computer-Generated- Imagery. 3D CGI was created in 1976, but 2D CGI was created in 1973. Edwin Catmull created CGI.

CGI in a movie

In the movie Journey 2 there is really cool special effects. The gold volcano was one thing that was cool to me. It was cool because volcano's don't blow out gold. Some of the other things was a giant bird and a bee. The lizard and the baby lizard. The giant bird and bee was created with CGI. The baby lizard and mama lizard was also with CGI. They were sketched then put into the movie.

Introduction

Today I will be talking about CGI and how it works. Also I will be showing some CGI in the movie: Journey 2: The Mysterious Island.
