Melting Ice With Salt
Sarah Atkinson
I think it turned out this way because Sea Salt had the most sodium. In Trial 3, the amount of water that came out was lower than the other trials. I think it is lower because that trial may have gotten mistimed.
If I put 2 tablespoons of Sea Salt on a 1/2 cup of solid ice it will melt more than any other type of salt within 45 minutes.
1.Fill a 10 oz clear plastic cups with 1/2 cup of water(4x)
2.Freeze cups of water until frozen solid
3.Measure 2 tbsp. of each type of salt out
4.Pour each type of salt on top of individual cup of ice.
5.Leave for 45 minutes
6.Pour the melted liquid and measure the amount of water that comes out
7.Record Data
My hypothesis was correct because Sea Salt did melt the most ice.

I did not research anything, I got the idea from a family member and continued my experiment from there on my own.
If I did this experiment again, I might add more than 2 tbsp. for each 1/2 cup frozen water because I would get more water at the end of the 45 mins.
