At the beginning the display panel is not lighted up and showing that a seats are not in use. When the dementia patient has settled down on a seat, the respective led on display panel will show a green light. If the patient has left the seat the respective LED at display panel will change to red and the buzzer will activated the nurses about the patient.

  • Useful to individuals in the earlier stages of dementia.

  • Usage

1. Reduce the time required to find missing individuals.

2. Increase the independence, autonomy, and freedom.

3. Help caregivers and emergency responders to quickly locate.

4. Dementia patient feel more secure and be more independent.

Our purpose of this project is to benefit the care-givers who are taking care of the elderly having dementia.

We contacted 6 different care center & nursing home, and they are:

Orange Valley

  • Total 57 Respondents (Nurses):

a) 41 looking after dementia patients

b) 16 looking after general patients

  • Orange Valley: 5 Storeys High

a) 2 levels are for dementia patient

b) 3 levels are for general patient (other illness and slight dementia patient)

  • Day time 8-9 nurses for 50-60 patients

  • Night time 3-4 nurses

We came out with 4 survey questions:

What are some problems or difficulties you encounter with these patients?

Do the patients with dementia have any regular or fixed daily routine? If possible, please list their typical routine.

Is there any thing or system, which if available, would be helpful to you in your work with these patients?

In their routine or activities, what are some of the areas that they need help with?
