The Immune System

By: Abdullah, Ibraheem and Sudarshan 86

What are the Immune System's Functions?

The immune system defends and tries to protect our body from infections or diseases. The immune system defends against organisms and most of the time suppresses the organisms. The immune system is made up of cells, tissues and organs.

Innate System vs. Adaptive System

What is the Immune System?

Innate System vs. Adaptive System

The Immune System is a system that defends humans against infections, diseases, germs and microorganisms everyday. It is a system of biological structures and processes within an organism that protects against disease. But sometimes, if the immune system does not function properly, it can cause problems which can lead to illness and infection.

The innate system provides the body with a non-specific defense against all objects that are foreign from any other objects. They are present since the time of birth in a normal human being.

The adaptive system keeps track of specific diseases and infections and tries to defend the body as much as it can. The cool thing about the adaptive system is that, whenever they previously faced any specific infections, the next time that they come back, the next response is quick, accurate and effective because they have met that infection before.

These are the different types of invaders that can affect your body

Virus: They need the host to multiply to reproduce.

Carcinogen: Substances that can cause cancer.

Pollution: Presence of unwanted substances in the air, water and the environment.

Germs: Microorganisms that can cause sickness.

Toxins: Substances that are harmful to the body.

Fungus: Mold-like substances that grow on stale substances.

Bacteria: Microorganisms that can either help the body or not help the body.

Parasites: Organisms that look for food or nourishment and protection from hosts.
