In conculsion , Helen was one of the most important figures in New York photograghy. For over 60 years her photographs caught the streets of New York; she has inspired and amazed generations of photographers and lovers of art in general. Throughout her long career, Helen Levitt’s photographs have reflected her point of view of New York.
She pursued a career in photography, with some of her earlier images showcased by Fortune magazine and the Museum of Modern Art. She was known for her captures of children and urban street life and worked as a film director on documentaries like The Quiet One. She was also one of the first photographers to work with color.
