It was the most damaging scandal of all.

In 1920 Warren G. Harding was elected President on a pledge of a " return to normalcy"

  • Forbes was able to dupe the president

  • He was getting some kick backs from resold medical supplies and hospital contacts

After pressing two distinguished terms as state senator and one as lieutenant governor. Harding came out of a deadlock 1920 Republican National Convention and headed to Presidency.

  • Harding knew of Forbes Misdeeds long before demanding his resignation.
  • Harding was tried for criminal conspiracy but no evidence ever turned up

Harding Friend Harry Daugherty had helped him get into to Presidency. In return Harding put him and his other pals in the "Ohio Gang"
