Body

The body of the suit is made of nylon because it is a fire retardant material.

It would be tight enough that it would fit under your normal everyday clothes.

The Reason I Did This.

The reason I did this is because flying has always been a big dream of mine and I saw these gliding suits and thought "well maybe I could make a better version. " I did all I could to research this and make it the best I could. This was really fun for me because I am a technical person and this was really technical . My favorite part was researching the jet engines to see if they could be converted to a smaller version to hold in your hand. It was fun because the engines were really complex.

Breakthrough!

My big breakthrough was Polypropylene, kevlar and nylon. What I couldn't find before was a fire resistant fabric and fire resistant plastic.

Clips

The clips would be high tension spring clips. High tension spring clips are just springs with a hook at each end. On the wings there would be a small hole where the spring would go into and when you want the suit closed up you take the spring and put it in the hole to hold it closed. When you want it out the wing will be pushing up against your body and there will be a clip on there to hold it open. The reason I used High tension clips is because if they were to break as you were flying you would fall to your doom.

Portability

The portability of this suit is extremely high the idea is that it can fit under your normal clothes and be able to use at any time. For instance if you just felt like jumping off a cliff for some reason you could bring it out quickly and glide down.

Jets Continued

Jet propelled Portable Flying Suit

The battery would be on the underarm (armpit) and would power the electric motor to start the engine spinning. The kerosene would then start flowing. The jets would be used to keep you up and keep a constant speed not on all the time to use the least amount of kerosene possible.

Jets

The jets on here would be small high power jets you can hold in your hand. They would also be on the side of your legs and would go in slots in your shoes. The ones in your hand would be stored in a slot in your pants. the kerosene (fuel) would be stored in a pack on your back.

Was it fun?

This project was really fun. It was fun because it took a lot of thinking, but it got a bit frustrating at times. Like when I couldn't find a single jet design, or when I couldn't find any industrial clips. Also I don't think many other middle schoolers are able to say they have the plans for a flying suit in their computer. This will help me

Shoes

The shoes would be a bit bigger than normal ones because they would need to be able to hold the jets.

They would be made of polypropylene becasue it is a high tempurature plastic that does not melt easily.

Wings

The wings of the suit will be made of kevlar because it is highly fire resistant and can withstand extreme pressure. It is also a fabric so it would be able to fold up.

Helmet

Your head is completely covered in a kevlar mask and has a glass windscreen. This is to protect your head at high temperatures and high pressure. The windscreen is so that you can see.
