The warring states continued...

Between 370- 340 the state of Wei is defeated by Qin.

-The period of Qi lasted from 301- 284 B.C.

-The period of Zhao lasted from 284- 260 B.C

- the state of Chu holds power for a few decades.

- The state of Qin rises to become one of the most powerful states in China and between230-221B.C it starts to take over the other states.

Timeline of the Zhou dynasty: China

the Warring states period

-this period began in 475 B.C.

-this period saw the rise of 7 or 8 major states that fought for control over china.

-4 major states rise, the Jin, Qin, Qi and Chu, also in the southeast the Wu and Yue rise as powerful states.

-During the 6th century B.C the Jin separated into the houses of Han, Zhao,and Wei.

-Between 455-400 B.C the three houses of Jin are united but are slowly drawn into conflict and in 383 the Jin alliance is destroyed.

the western Zhou period

the Zhou dynasty was the third recorded dynasty in China, it had 3 major periods and spanned over 800 years, and and had a total of over 45 emperors.

-the western period started in 1027 B.C and ended in 771 B.C

it was the first part of the Zhou dynasty.

-it was the only period in which the Zhou rulers had complete power over the nobles.

the Autumn and Spring period

this period started when northern tribes attacked the capital of the empire and the current leader was murdered, from there the royal family fled and moved the capital to lauyang.

- this period started in 771 B.C and ended in 475 B.C

- the Zhou rulers however didnt have the same amount of power after the attack, the country now began to decline and separated into autonomous feudal states.

the Eastern Zhou period

the Eastern Zhou period lasted almost 550 years, from 771 B.C until the fall of the dynasty in 221 B.C.

it included 2 major periods:

- the autumn and spring period and,

- the warring states period.
