- Alpacas live in farms all along southern California, with one in the valley.
- Alpacas are bred mainly for their fleece. Humans use fleece for clothing, rugs, blankets, anything and everything.

- Like Cows, Alpacas eat grass and or hay, though they do need to be higher quality.
- Sun --> Hay/Grass --> Alpaca --> Coyote
- Alpacas prefer humid and wet conditions
- Alpacas native range is the western region of South America.
- Mountain lion is also a known predator
- Alpacas live in high altitudes, preferably 3500 ft above sea level

Actually part of the camel family!
- Females weigh 110 - 150 lbs
- Males weigh 140 - 180 lbs
- Alpacas are about 4'5 to 5 ft tall
- Male Alpacas breed between 1 - 3 years of age
- Females are "Induced Ovulators" - ovulate only when in the act of mating or in presence of semen
- Sometimes have trouble conceiving; most of the time they don't
- Gestation period is about 11 months and almost always conceive one baby alpaca, called Cria.
