Communication is Key

Families

Teaching is student centered and learning is active; the teacher is a facilitator and an example for their students.

Interaction should not be limited to communicating only the negative incidents of the day.

Positive Relationships

The Role of Schools

Diversity

Teacher Diversity

Matters

  • The purpose of a school should be to raise people who are able to contribute positively to society, both educationally and socially.
  • Children, are therefore, learning the social norms needed to function in the current society, but also acquiring and developing new norms for a better society.
  • Parents need to be encouraged and involved; whether it be through volunteer hours, sending notes home, or sending photos home/email.

Facilitate Learning

The Role of Teachers

Before a teacher establishes their classroom routine, they must first develop a relationship with their students by creating a warm and welcoming environment of trust, safety, and openness. This is especially true when it comes to questions or comments. The classroom is where a teacher expresses who they are as a person, and gradually incorporates it into the classroom routine.

The Role of Students

Be aware of

learning modalities

  • Each child has a unique way of learning and understanding the world around them.
  • Some students may learn best in small discussion groups, while others learn best in small, interactive or hands-on groups.

My Teaching Journey

  • When organizing group or individual projects, apply them to real life situations students are particularly interested in at the time.
  • In the classroom students are responsible for acting safely and responsibly because it is the most helpful and positive thing to do.

Cooperative Learning

"Show yourself in all respects to be a model of good works, and in your teaching show integrity, dignity, and sound speech that cannot be condemned..."

(Titus 2:7-8, English Standard Version)
