Overpopulation In India

Result of Overpopulation in India

How can Overpopulation in India effect the people throughout the country?

Based on proven charts and ranks, the India population is increasing rapidly - more quickly than China, the most populated country in the world. Research says that by 2025, India is going to surpass China, becoming the top of the list. Already, 18% of the entire worldwide population originate from India (nearly 1.3 billion of 7.3 billion people). That's 1/7th of the world population, in one small piece of land in Asia.

What is Overpopulation?

There are many reasons why the poverty rate is so high in India, and why so many families are struggling to survive. Overpopulation can effect how many people live, in the following reasons.

Unemployment. Generating work for people in India is very challenging, usually because all the jobs are taken since there are quite little, and because half the population doesn't have an education so they cannot apply to decent jobs. Some can't even get to school because they live so far away from the nearest one.

Survival resources. Finding clean water, or even water in general, is difficult. Decent food, as well - many cannot afford more than 5 dollars worth of food each day, some even 1 dollar. One of the most challenging things to find in India is land space. All the land is covered in people, and its extremely hard to find space to build a home, or to find a home.

Inequal Money Distribuation. Because of the huge population, it makes it hard to give equal income to everybody.

Oddly enough, lots of Indians choose to live in rural areas, the poorest areas of the country. To be exact, 68% of the population. Usually this is because they want to escape the overpopulated urban places. But some do this to buy farming land and grow crops for themselves to provide a private food source. Unfortunately, rural areas are far away from the city, where are the stores and medicational sources are. Many cannot afford rides to get places, especially ones in rural areas.

The name says it all. Overpopulation is the term that refers to when a population density grows to a limit and begins to effect environmental changes. The state can lead to poverty and many other unhealthy conditions that can threaten survival and invade space.

India Population Growth Chart

India has extremely crowded land, right now at a population density of 390 people per km squared, however there are some reasons why the population is increasing so rapidly. For one, the birth rate is higher than the death rate. Every second, someone dies. Every 10 seconds, 6 children are born. However, this information applies worldwide, not only in India; but a very similar rate is in the country. India's population is increasing by one birth every 3 seconds. The early marriage system can also have an effect on overpopulation. The legal marriage age for females is 18 years of age. India made it an obligation for women to get married as early as possible, where young age can lead to having children earlier. And finally, as said before, poverty can lead to overpopulation as well, in cases where families want children to help out and create a larger income.

This is a graph of the population growth in India from 1901 to 2011, increasing 10 years each time. The population now is almost 100 million more people.

Already, 56% of the India population can't afford basic survival needs. That's more than 650 million people who are affected by poverty. India has always been a packed country, filled with many people. However, the growth has come to a hazardous limit that is beginning to become unsafe for a lot of the population. The causes of this world issue all revolve around one problem - poverty. The poor cannot afford any work or have the capability to leave for a job everyday. In solution, they must have children to help around the area, collect food, help on the farms, and clean up. It sounds very unfair, like child labour - but it is one of the only ways to survive. On the contrary, another child means more food, more money, and more room in the house. They do help with work, but cost a lot.
