Tanya Divjak was born in 1968 and lives in Ontario

When Tanya was 18 she picked up her first camera and spent the day wandering through fields snapping photographs of everything she saw

She didn't start her photography career until year 2000

She enjoys working with "fine art" photography in black and white and experiments a lot with landscapes and still-life

She enjoys working with 'natural lighting' which usually creates a strong contrast between the dark shadows and bright highlights

She in the last few years has gotten into wedding photography

She weaves her black and white photography into her wedding photos where it is most effective

Although she works most of her magic in black and white photography, she allows colour to sometimes intrude on her pictures to make them pop!

Contribution to Developing Photography as an Art

Why I Chose Tanya

My Attempts at Tanya Divjak's Photography Style

By capturing the light from each of the environments exactly how it was at the time without added lights added the needed contrast and beautiful yet shy light to the picture

"Perhaps when we see in black and white and we lose the colours, we acquire the ability to see what would have been missed, and see the activity of light and shadow in its fullest measure."

More Depth but Same Detail

Tanya Divjak has contributed to the world of photography by allowing people to see the pure light within each scene she captures and it adds depth. She has mastered the art of black and white photography and helps to push the black and white photography field forwards.

Black and white photography has always been an interest of mine and I admire her dedication to her profession and keeping it simple. Her style is always so crisp and clear, too, which leads me to say that her photographs are always very detailed and it draws my eye to it. She inspires me to take pictures in the natural light how she does.
