Music in the Sub-Saharan Africa

What is it?

The Music:

Sub-Saharan Africa holds traditional ways of life, but is so culturally and environmentally diverse.

This area has more than 1,000 languages, thousands of different customs and religions.

The people devote themselves mostly to agriculture, and they also live in small villages.

The music is very diverse also, it has complex rythyms and polyrythms.

Usually there is a soloist and then a responding chorus.

This music has been influencial in many ways, the musical style is mainly influenced by the Arabian culture.

The music has affected other parts of Africa, in a positive way. Northern Africa most! Northern Africa focuses their music on the Sub-Saharan musical style and has been spreading all over the world.

Sub-Saharan Africa is south of the

Sahara Desert.

This area includes countries such as Nigeria, Angola, Ghana, Kenya,

Chad, Zimbabwe, Niger, Madagascar, and many more countries!
