Red Bed Plains

By Claudia Sanchez, Adam Finnell, and Lauren Whaley

The Red Bed plains were once covered by a shallow sea, and the lifted look of the region is caused by continental sediment deposits. This region has low mountains, smooth plains, and tablelands. Elevation ranges from 1,600 ft to 3,000 ft.

To the west of the Sand Hills are the Red Bed Plains.

The Red Bed Plains are the largest land region in Oklahoma.

They stretch from Kansas' border in the North, to the center of the state.

The Red Bed Plains slope upward from east to west.

The eastern part is mostly forested, and the western part is mostly grassy. This region has fairly fertile soil. Farmers can grow cotton and wheat in the southwestern part of the Red Bed Plains. Oil has even been found in some parts of this region!Shale and Sandstone are common rocks to be found in this region.
