In the 1930s, Adolf and Rudolf Dassler joined the Nazi Party, with Rudolf being the more enthusiastic National Socialist. Rudolf was soon drafted, but Adolf stayed behind to tend to the brothers' business. He produced boots for members of the Wehrmacht, which was the unified armed forces of Germany from the years 1935-'45. Soon after developing the shoes, Adolf withdrew from the Nazi Party. As the war continued, Adolf and Rudolf became increasingly distant, and by 1948, Rudolf left the brothers' business and eventually established Puma across town. Adolf later renamed the company he once shared with his brother after his own nickname. (ADI DASsler ). Adidas's popularity continued to increase; people everywhere were often spotted wearing the company's shoes.

When Adolf Dassler died in 1978, his son Horst Dassler took Adidas over. Nine years later, in 1987, Horst died. Adidas was then transformed into a private limited company . It remained family property until its initial public offering (IPO) in 1995. Adidas went on to become the second-largest sportswear manufacturer in the world (next to Nike). The company currently produces a wide range of footwear, sportswear, sports equipment, and toiletries. Adidas's merchandise is widely bought and used today by people worldwide.

So, What did entrepreneur Adolf Dassler Create?

The German-born entrepreneur Adolf " Adi" Dassler was the creater of the well-known sprortswear company Adidas. Trained as a cobbler, Dassler began creating his own shoes in his mother's laundromat after his return from WW 1. Eventually, with the help of some blacksmiths, he started his own shoe company. Dassler was later accompanied in his business by his older brother Rudolf, and together they called the business Gebrüder Dassler Schuhfabrik (Dassler Brother's Shoe Factory). Throughout the 1920s, the business thrived very significantly, and in 1928, Adolf Dassler produced shoes for various athletes competing in the Summer Olympics, including Jesse Owens. Owens later went on to win four gold medals while wearing Adi's shoes. This set the foundation for the international expansion for the company.

How was the Economy Doing When Adolf Dassler Started His Business???

In the 1920s, Germany's economy was virtually devastated due to its defeat in World War I. After the signing of the Treaty of Versailles, Germany had to pay extensive sums of money for repairs in France and Britain. Additionally, the treaty forced Germany to give up thirteen percent of its land. In an attempt to revive its economy, the German government decided to engage in social spending. However, the spending soon became dangerously excessive, and combined with plummeting revenues, it consequently caused Germany's economy to hit rock bottom. The fall of Germany's economy evidently set the grounds for the reign of Adolf Hitler, who promised the Germans that he'd restore their country's economy.
