Developing the Aspirational Resume Tool

Objective: Create a tool that encourages students to develop written career plans

Result: Aspirational Resumes - teaching students resume-writing basics while encouraging aspirational thinking

Steps to Implementation

  • Fall 2014: Reviewed University strategic outcomes
  • Spring 2015: Presented to the Provost’s, Dean’s, and Associate Dean’s committees
  • Spring 2015: Worked with Dean of Undergraduate Studies
  • Spring 2016: Worked with UTAC on creating aspirational resume clinics
  • Summer 2016: Collaborated with EOP/ETE to integrate into SummerBridge
  • Increase confidence in ability to format a resume with relevant experience
  • Clarify career objectives and what to do to reach goals
  • Learn about resources for increasing knowledge of how to gain relevant experience
