Computer animators create animated/moving graghics, for movies, television,commercials, and video games
Here are a few examples:
Most animators work for film production companies, TV stations, video game developers, and advertising companies. However though, they can also be independent film makers, but are less likely to make it big this way. A typical work day lasts 8 hours, but they have pretty flexible schedules.
The career clusters it belongs to are arts, A/V technology and communications, and information technology
Animators typically earn anywhere from $30,000 to $100,000 annually.
To become an animator you must have at least 2 years of college experience or get a a bachelor's degree (4 years).
Some other similar careers are:
- Video Game designer
- Graphic Designer
- Film Editor
Based on what I've learned from studying this career, I've learned that this job may not be for me. This is because I have tried to animate a little myself... and it's pretty difficult and confusing, so more or less I've figured this is more of a dream job rather than something I'd want to do for the rest of my life. So in conclusion, this career is just to difficult for me, so I don't think I'll want to have this job in the future.
Some of the core tasks animators do are producing storyboards and creating and animating graphics using a computer.
If one were interested in becoming a computer animator, there are a few classes they could take in high school. Some of them are biology, Pre-calculus, and fundamentals of computer systems
There are also a few attributes and abilities that are necessary:
- Computer skills
- Being Artistic
- Creative
- Drawing skills are helpful
