  • Banksy, dir. Exit Through the Gift Shop. Shepard Fairey, Thierry Guetta, and Prod. Holly Cushing. Revolver Entertainment, 2010. Film. .

This documentary was directed by Banksy and gives an inside look at the world of street art. Thierry Guetta follows street artists, such as Banksy and Shepard Fairey, and accumulates hours of film that shows these artists at work. When he tries to make a documentary with this film, the results are terrible and Banksy decides to take control of the project. While he is working on the documentary, he encourages Guetta to work on his own career as a street artist, which leads to the rise of Mr. Brainwash. The movie allows people to experience an art form that is usually kept in the shadows, and it shows the influence of that art form on society. It is also a critique by Banksy on consumerism and society's naivete.

All over New York City, building owners have hired security guards in order to protect Banksy's artwork. Other street artists have been trying to deface Banksy's work and even paint their own tag under it . Banksy's paintings have been cut from walls and been sold over $1 million. Banksy's work is so valuable that when he paints on buildings, the building's value increases. This article describes what Banksy is doing currently . The fact that his work is so valuable shows that graffiti is becoming respected as an art form and greatly influencing our society.
