The Three Year Swim Club

We would absolutely recommend this book

By: Ben Lydall, Braedyn McKay, Griffin Joyner, Liahona Lance, Tressa Hunt, and Spencer Clark

The Three Year Swim Club is a book about persistence and dedication. It is about kids in Hawaii that began swimming with a teacher in a sugar cane ditch, because they had nowhere else to go. The labor expected of them on a daily basis before leaving almost classified as servants, so the opportunity to leave and to swim was always a welcome one.

Resolution

"Those who hit fast enough times would qualify for the Men's AAU Nationals in Louisville, Kentucky, in July. An added bonus was that the AAU was putting up the cash for other Hawaiian swimmers to travel to the West Coast before the Nationals."

Most of the book takes place in Maui. Occasionally, they are out of town for meets, or to look at some of Japan's characters.
