beware: do not read this poem

// An Interview of Dr.Margee Kerr by Allerga Ringo

// A Poem By:Ishmael Reed

This poem starts out about a women whom is so vain she surronds herself with mirrors and when villlagers come into her house she dissapears into one. Using the allure of fear to draw the reader to the poem by constantly using warnings such as, "the hunger of this poem is legandary," or even the title "beware: do not read this poem, arouses questions which leads to uncertainty. As stated in slide number 2 non answered questions spark anxiety and paranoai which leads to an enviroment of fear .

In this inerview Dr. Margee Kerr states that "to really enjoy a scary situation, we have to know we're in a safe enviroment." If the brain doesn't believe that they are safe they will go into a "fight or flight response." Due to your brain uncertain of what situation they are in, and how to protect you, you may experience stressful psychological symptoms such as anxiety or parnoia the product which creates an atmosphere of fear.

The Raven

// A Collection of Photographs By:Arthur Tress

// A Poem By: Edgar Allen Poe

The Raven is a poem about a man who is driven insanewith deprssion and has a creepy meeting with a talking raven. Poe creates a feeling of unceratinty but not thoroughly explaining throught the poem. For example, the raven repated the word "Nevermore" is repeated a total of eleven times throughout this piece, contantly leaving the reader uncertain. This creates fear because of the continuous anxiety the reader feels not being able to find out the "why."

The analyzation of these black and white photos can be very diversal due to the viewer being able to potray it in differnet ways. This creates numerous feelings of unceratinty because of not knowing the sole purpose of the photo and what it means. Questions without answers arouse fear. For example in photo number three, shown by Sawyer, the little boy appears to be an innocent child, captured by a tall mysterious person wearing a long black coat. Ideas of kidnapping come to mind and uncertainty tends for you to fear the worse creating an atmosphere of fear caused by uncertainty.

Windigo

// A Short Story By: Joye Carol Oates

// A Poem By: Louis Erdich

Where is here is a short story revolving around a mysterious stranger whom is a former resident at the house of which the story takes place. Oates begins her uncertain atmosphere with her title. The way the author uses a question in her title sparks an atmosphere of uncertainty from the very beginning. When the stranger arrives the mother speaks very "uncertainly" of his visit and as you read the story the tone is set for the visit of the starnger to have a negative affect on the family. Endless questions are inhabiting the reader's head as he or she read the story. Such as "Why is he here or?" And "Who is he?" Oates doesn't directly address these questions leaving the reader quite uncertain causing he or she to fear for the future of the characters creating anxiety and parnoia.

The poem, written in free verse, is told through second person, the Windigos's perspective, rather then first. Through this you get tow witness the petrifying actions. Through the line 13 to 14, "You saw me drag toward you. Oh touch me, I mumured, and licked the soles of your feet," the depraved Windigo's intention toward the child is hazy. This uncertainty builds up anxiety on what is Windigo going to do the child, formulating an atmosphere of fear, for the child's stake.
