  • His parents' names were Samuel and Mary Adams.
  • His cousin was John Adams,our 2nd President.
  • Sam married twice. First, to Elizabeth Checkley in 1749. She died in 1757. In 1764, he married Elizabeth Wells.
  • Samuel Adam's political career started in 1756 as a Massachusetts assemblyman.
  • In 1774, he was the delegate from Massachusetts for the first Continental Congress.
  • He signed the Declaration of Independence.
  • In 1781, he became a member the Massachusetts State Constitutional Convention.
  • In 1789, he was appointed Lieutenant Governor of Massachusetts by John Hancock.
  • Samuel Adams was the Governor of Massachusetts from 1794-1797.
