In 1791, a man of Jamaican origin named "Boukman" became the leader of the slave population of a large plantation in Cap Français. In the wake of the revolution in France, he planned to massacre all the whites living in Cap Français. On 22 August 1791, the blacks descended to Le Cap, where they destroyed the plantations and executed all the whites who lived in the region. King Louis XVI was accused of indifference to the massacre, while the slaves seemed to think the king was on their side. In July 1793, the whites in Les Cayes were massacred.
For Haiti, the Country's Ancestors
We must walk hand in hand There must not be traitors among us We must be ourselves's unique master. Let's walk hand in hand For Haiti can be more beautiful. Let us put our heads together To Haiti on behalf of all its ancestors.
For Haiti on the behalf of the Ancestors Let us mow, let us sow Let us sit in the soil's strength It has given us food In stumbled ground sends wheels With joy must provide ground Mow, water, women and men Must we come to live only by our arms' strength.
For Haiti and for the Ancestors We must be courageous People are not born to serve others That is why all mothers and all fathers Need to send children to school To learn to know What Toussaint, Dessalines, Christophe, Petion Made for bouncing Haitians under the white code.
For Haiti on the behalf of the Ancestors Let us raise our head and look above For everyone to ask the Lord To grant us protection For bad angels we diverted For we will march in the right path For liberty be liberty May justice spread over the country!
We have a flag like all people Let us love it, die for it It was not a gift from the whites It was our Ancestors blood that was shed To hold our flag high Let us work together and focus For other countries to respect it This flag is the soul of every Haitian.
when Christopher Columbus discovered AYITI, he saw how rich the land was. It was perfect for a colony.
He wanted to build a colony. He Went back to tells the others about what he had found. They started out by buying Africans Slaves to the land and making them work for them.
Then they thought that it wasn't enough so they went and bought more slaves to work buildings and others stuff. They turned the habitants into slaves.
I Chose this subject because, I know a lot about the Haiti Massacre. I learned about it in school in Haiti. I thought it would be a way for me to review back and learn something new from it,Something that I didn't catch on from the first time I learned about the 1804 Haiti Massacre.

I think That The Haitian Massacre was really sad, but on the other hand it was wrong of the french people to do what they did.
I dont like the fact that a lot of the slaves had to work even if they couldn't and how they were treated

Haiti was originally called Ayiti or (Land of high mountains) by the indigenous Tainos that occupied that island before its alleged 'discovery'. It was renamed Espanola or Hispanola after Spain colonized it. It is now Haiti and the Dominican Republic.
It is still Called AYITI but in English you would say Haiti.
