Why is the number of Islamophobic people increasing?

- Currently, the most prominent and infamous terror groups are radical muslims, and these terror groups include but are not limited to ISIS, Al Queda, and Al Shabaab

- An example of increasing Islamophobia is Donald Trump, a candidate running for president in the U.S. He is currently proposing a ban on all muslim immigration, as well as a special registration system only for muslims. Because of his popularity among voters in the U.S, we can make the assumption that his views are reflected by a large portion of the American people.

Why is globalization not a positive phenomena?

- There are several huge issues that are a result of globalization, and increased terrorism is only one of them

- We are arguing that globalization greatly increases terrorism, and not that globalization is what causes terrorism.

How is this related to globalization?

What is the Impact on Security?

- With globalization came a larger demand for a faster mode of transportation, thus creating the airline industry.

- The existence of the airline industry has created another angle of attack that can be used by terrorists.

- Airport security has gotten much more strict following the events of 9/11.

- A poll shows that 69% of Americans think that it is likely for a terrorist attack to happen in the next few months and wants to better the security within the country.

- Some Canadians dislike the welcoming of refugees from Syria due to the fact there might be a terrorist within them.

Media

The media and communications technology has allowed the Un-Islamic Non-State, as UN General Secretary Ban Ki Moon calls it, to spread propaganda and hate speech faster and further that ever possible before.

How is terrorism increased by globalization?

How does this relate to globalization?

- There are 5 main examples/evidence points to support the claim:

- The economy is highly impacted by terrorism

- Security has increased everywhere

- Islamophobia and discrimination is increasing

- Terrorist organization are recruiting people faster than ever before

- The increase in terrorist attacks

- Because globalization has increased methods of communication

- Because globalization has increased methods of communication, the number of ways terrorist organizations can make threats is infinite

- Security measures around the world have become more extreme due to the threat of a terrorist attack.

How is the economy impacted by terrorism?

- After 9/11, the initial shock caused a 30% decrease in demand for air travel (following the reopening of airports)

- Several american aviation giants (such as US airways) declared bankruptcy

- Airline companies were forced to lay off many workers. American airlines alone laid off 7000

- A study by Cornell University in 2007 showed a 6% decrease in airline passengers in America, and a 9% passenger reduction in America's largest airports. This was a total loss of about 1 billion dollars for the airline industry.

How does this relate to

globalization?

- Decisions and even proposals made by certain people all around the world can be heard accross the entire globe

- As seen in the latest Al Shabaab recruiting video, Donald Trump's proposals and discriminatory ideas have been used to recruit young people from the U.S

- Videos like this can be shared all around the world because of the increasing simplicity and ease of communication

How has globalization created an increase in terrorist attacks and innocent deaths?

- ISIS propaganda encourages others to join their

cause.

- Recent events with ISIS have given enough courage for other no-name rebel groups to take action as well
