There were many flaws prior to this piece of legislature such as hazards of consumption and a problem of meat rotting at a extremely fast rate.

Major people

President Theodore Roosevelt signed the meat inspection act on June 30th 1906. American chemist, Harvey W. Wiley was the chief of the Bureau of Chemistry of the USDA, and issued the first report over the issue.
