What Earth look like.......

The Triassic period was named in 1834 by German geologist Fredrick Von Alberti. It is the first period of the Mesozoic Era. The Triassic began after the worst mass extinction ever, at the end of Permian. There was a huge continent known as Pangaea. Reptiles were so successful during the Mesozoic Era that this time is often called the Age of Reptiles. About 225 million years ago, the first dinosaurs and mammals appeared. From these small mammals, all mammals that live today evolved. Pangaea began to break up in the mid-Triassic. At the end of the period, there was a mass extinction. At that time, about more than 90% of Earth's species extinct.

Pangaea had been connected as one continent and started to drift apart during the middle of the Triassic period. There was no grass, but an abundance of ferns and mosses to provide ground cover in less arid areas.

During the Triassic period, the climate was cool and dry. After Pangaea split apart, the climate became hot and dry.The polar regions were moist and temperate. The arid and dry environment was perfect for reptiles.
