I chose this theme because the book is all about the error of prejudging, almost every chapter of the book has examples of judging and it's in the name of the book so I thought it was appropriate to use.

The reason I chose this theme was because it happens a lot in the book and it plays an important role in the book.

This passage is about how Mrs. Winterbottom wants to be nice and caring to Phoebe but Phoebe push's her off and acts as if she doesn't care about her mother at all which is probably the reason Mrs. Winterbottom left other than for her son. This passage demonstrated how Phoebe took Mrs. Winterbottom for granted.

In this passage Phoebe is

judging Mrs. Cadaver making something up about her killing her husband when her husband actually died from a car accident.

"'Her name is Mrs. Cadaver right? Have you ever wondered what happened to Mr. Cadaver?'" -Phoebe (P.24)

My First Passage:

The reason I chose this theme is because

My second passage:

"Mrs. Winterbottom suddenly leaned over and kissed Phoebe's cheek 'I'm not a baby you know,' Phoebe said, wiping the kiss off her face."-Phoebe with Sal narrating (P.103)

My Last Passage

The End!

"'My mother hates it when strangers come to the door,' Phoebe said. 'She is convinced that any day one of them will burst into the house'.-Phoebe (P.42-43)

What's happening in this passage is somebody comes to the door and Phoebe is convinced it is a lunatic because that's what her mom put in her head and she's terrified. So she's prejudging the "lunatic (her brother) before she even knew him!

Passage:

"Mrs. Winterbottom suddenly leaned over and kissed Phoebe's cheek.

'I'm not a baby you know,' Phoebe said, wiping the kiss off her face."

Phoebe is taking her mom for granted. This moment is probably one of the ones that were happening that Mrs. Winterbottom decided to leave. I chose this passage because it reflects the theme very well since it represents taking someone for granted (Phoebe taking Mrs. Winterbottom for granted) so it seemed

appropriate for the theme.

My First Theme I Chose Was:

The Error of Prejudging

My Next Theme is:

The Mistake of Taking

Someone For Granted
