Flan

  • Flan dates back to ancient Rome.
  • Our word for flan acctually is derived from the Latin word, "flado" (meaning flat cake), which became "flaon" in old French.
  • Flan is pronounced differently in different countries. In english is is pronounced to rhyme with "plan", while the Spanish style is pronounced more like, "faun".
  • Spain added their own touches with citruses and almonds.

Flan is a desert for any occasion. It is eaten at birthdays, weddings, or family get-togethers. Also, it is eaten during the Day of the Dead.
