There are a lot of different greenhouse gases that can effect our ozone but there are very popular ones.
Methane- Methane is a very powerful greenouse gas that comes from bacteria rotting something once living, the insides of different animals, garbage, and sometimes some burning fossil fuels. This gas is probably twice as strong as carbon dioxide though.
Carbon Dioxide- Carbon dioxide is a less powerful greenhouse gas that comes from car emissionns, factory exhaust, and the exhale of humans. THis gas is more common than methane but weaker.
Chlorofluorocarbons (C1FC's)- Cfc's are a greenhouse gas that were made for a propellant in aerosol cans, in refrigeration and air conditioning systems, in foam, cleaning solvents, and in electrical components.
Ozone Project: How Lightning Creates The Ozone Layer
Lightning can repair our ozone layer, but we can too. WE can start lowering back on car emissions, start discontinuing the use of aresol, and start putting regulations on factory's exhaust. WE can repair our ozone layer just by taking one step at a time.
To stop global Warming, there are a number of things you can do,
Stop Deforestation- When you chop down a tree, The tree dies. When the tree dies, bacteria feed on it and it releases methane into the air. Methane is a very harmful chemical to our ozone layer that breaks the oxygen molecules apart. This makes the oxygen not ozone anymore, just plain oxygen atoms. Then that leads to more global warming.
Shop Locally- When you shop at different stores, that leads to more items being bought than the normal amount of local people shopping for products. This leads to the stores stock of products decreasing. When the store needs more product, they have to order a shipment of that product. When they ship the product, they have to use gasoline to run the vehicles they are using to ship their product. When the gasoline is burnt for fuel, it increases rates for global warming.
Carpool or walk- When you car pool or walk to a near destination, you save more gasoline from being burnt into fuel for global warming
RECYCLE!-When you recycle, less garbage is being thrown into the dump. When garbage is thrown into the dump, bacteria makes it rot and it produces methane, a harmful gas to the atmosphere that can raise the rates of global warming.
If we start doing these things now, we can help repair the broken parts of our ozone layer and stop most global warming. scientists have recorded the ozone's strength for a long time and have estimated that if we keep doing these things to stop global warming, we can repair the whole ozone layer by 2070! 2070, here we come!
Without lightning, we wouldn't have many things. First, we wouldn't have a strong ozone layer. Since our air is polluted from factories, vehicles, and more, our ozone depletes. It's lightning that fixes our ozone layer from depleteing. Imagine if we didn't have lightning, we wouldn't have an ozone layer in the distant future. Then we would all die from either to much radiation from the sun or hypothermia. We would also not have wildfires caused by lightning. Then we would have many plants on Earth. The deserts would become jungles and jungles would become bigger jungles. Jungles would expand into our human environment, which would make us start deforestation, which causes global warming. The whole Earth would be a jungle, or a complete desert fom sun radiation, but it's not, Thanks to lightning.
When lightning is created in a thunderstorm, the lightning is made with nitrogen oxides. When the storm clears, the nitrogen oxides are stil left in the air after the lightning strikes. So when the nitrogen oxides are in the sunlight with other atoms, they create a chemical reaction that turns the nitrogen oxides into oxygen. The oxygen naturally group together to create groups of three, which create our ozone layer (O3).
