- People in the CAR and the surrounding countries are constantly trying to avoid becoming involved in the fighting

- Children taken from villages and used as soldiers, messengers, slaves, etc.

- Families separated by force and most likely never reunited again

- thought to be part of coup attempt against Ange-Felix Patasse (President at the time) in 2001

- Bozize was sacked, and in 2001, he led troops still loyal to him against gov't troops of Patasse

- 2002 - Libyan forces aid Patasse's forces to subdue the attempt of Bozize and his rebel army to overthrow Patasse

- In 2003, Bozize seizes Bangui (capital), declares himself president, and dissolves parliament

-A new constitution approved in referendum

- Two years after taking over, Bozize was winner of Presidential elections after a run-off vote.

- December of '06, French got involved by helping gov't troops retake places in north-east

- Feb. in '07, Peace accord is signed between Bozize and the People's Democratic Front, PDF urges fighters to lay down their arms

- International Criminal Court also pinned War crimes from '02-03 on Patasse

- Prime Minister Elie Dote and cabinet resign in order to avoid censure motion against him

- Bozize appoints Faustin-Archange Touadera to replace Mr. Dote
