The setting of Loki's Wolves is around the United States but mostly in South Dakota. It takes place however in a variety of different environments and jumps from location to location fast because the main characters are on a quest and on the move.
The main conflict of Loki's Wolves is that the world is going to end and the only way to stop it is if heroes destroy monsters and slay a highly dangerous giant serpent. There are many more smaller conflicts in this book, but to find out about them, you must read the book yourself.
This cheery descendant of Balder will put a smile on your face. He can't be easily stopped from doing what is right. Baldwin is also a very nice person and can persuade people easily. Most of the other descendants love this cheery fellow, especially Fen, even though he is very excited for action.
Laurie also is a descendant of Loki as well as being Fen's cousin but they felt more like siblings. Laurie is still new to the news of gods and monsters and isn't sure of her place in the group. She sometimes gets frustrated with Fen's overprotective side and she is confident she can do many different things.
Fen is a descendant of Loki and has many tricks up his sleeve. Fen has always felt that he needed protect his cousin in a mother wolf kind of way and can be a little overprotective. He and Matt used to loath each other but over the course of the book the group's friendships change.
