What is the algorithm (ie. formula) that we learned yesterday to find the outer diameter of your lid? What does each part of the formula represent?

How will this algorithm change to find the INNER diameter of the lid?

Write the algorithm that will allow you to find the inner diameter of your lid.

Dimensioning & Fit Tolerances

Outer Diameter of Lid = Outer Diam of Can + Fit Tolerance (x2) + Wall Thickness (x2)

Inner Diameter of Lid = Outer Diam of Can + Fit Tolerance (x2)

Due Today:

1. Collect the dimensional sketch that you turned in yesterday.

2. In Tinkercad, design your first iteration of a lid that will fit over a given can. Recall: The fit of the lid should be able to seal the can and keep the contents inside fresh.

To start:

  • Go to classroom.google.com
  • Open 04.10 Lid Summative Project.
  • Answer all questions within.

Basic Laptop Rules:

1. No music. And no headphones - except when watching assigned videos.

3. Carry the laptop by the base (not the screen).

Tolerances

Is the diameter of the outside of the lip of the container the EXACT same size as the inside of the lip of the lid? Why or why not?

We're getting into the 3D modeling phase of our lid project! Why are there so many lids (and building blocks of lids) on this workplane? What is the purpose of working like this?

Static Fit Tolerance: The difference in size of interlocking objects that is required to allow one to fit over the other.

Nozzle diameter: the size of the opening at the end of the extruder nozzle.

Shells: the number of single extruder layers that make up the wall of your object.

The can in the image below is 66mm in diameter. What should the diameter of the outside of our lid be?
