RESTAURANT CELL ANALOGY

By: Alex De Souza

CYTOPLASM/RESTAURANT FLOOR

CELL/RESTAURANT

Cytoplasm is a substance that keeps all the organelles where they are supposed to be.

The restaurant floor keeps things like tables, chairs, and decor in place.

A cell has many parts to it, that assist the cell in doing the things it does.

A restaurant also has many parts to it that make it run properly.

NUCLEUS/MANAGER

The nucleus controls what happens in the cell.

The restaurant manager controls what happens inside the restaurant.

RIBOSOMES/COOK

CELL MEMBRANE/FRONT DOORS

MITOCHONDRIA/FOOD DRAWERS

NUCLEOLUS/OWNER

Ribosomes make protein

for the cell.

The cook makes food for the restaurant.

The mitochondria stores energy from food until organelles need it.

The food drawers store food until needed by the customers.

The cell membrane decides what comes in and out of the cell.

The front doors of a restaurant decide who comes in and out if it.

The nucleolus is the main part of the cell.

The restaurant owner is the most important part of the restaurant.

Proteins are made in the ER and served throughout the cell.

Food is made in the kitchen and served throughout the restaurant.

THE ENDOPLASMIC RETICULUM/KITCHEN

Golgi Bodies/Front Counter

LYSOSOMES/CUSTODIAN

VACUOLE/FRIDGE

The golgi bodies sort and send substances that are used/discarded in the cell.

The front counter is where employees sort and products into bags and relative things.

The ER makes several things in the cell like protein for the body.

The kitchen makes food for the customers inside the restaurant.

The vacuole stores food just like a fridge stores food.

Lysosomes break down materials and gets rid of unwanted things.

A custodian gets rid of unwanted materials also.
