Behaviors are things that you choose to do or choose not to do in order to avoid your illness. In this case the patients don't have that choice therefore can not get around/ avoid the illness. They will not know when they are going to be asked a question that may trigger the thoughts.
Known for many years and for many people to have it. As a illness where people get overwhelmed with anxiety based on thoughts.
And I couldn't find results of people with aboulomania and if they got rid of it.
One of my sources said the it was found under the DSM- IV code 300.3 which is the Obsessive Compulsive Disorder but it tends to be rare that it turns into a obsession.
Picking a toothbrush. While most people may not think about, or just go based of color so they do not match a spouse or sibling.
What would they think about? Maybe they would spend a lot of time deciding if a color was bright enough, or maybe if it went with the color scheme in the bathroom. Is it a good brand? Could there be a better one?
Most of my research said that aboulomania is related to stress, anxiety, and depression.

Some symptoms effect everyday life. Many patients say they feel physically healthy, but imprisoned and deprived of their freedom of action. Some people don't make it out of their houses in the morning because their thoughts just take over. It affects the peoples social skills and makes it harder for them to feel accepted.

Compared to Ambivalence which is the simultaneous experience of opposing ideas, feelings or attitudes toward a person or situation.
There is not a good source of treatment but many patients need a caretaker because if left alone they would not be able to make decisions; to eat or do other "easy" task due to the over thought.
Some patients turn to the proper therapy to teach them how to work through the thoughts in order to come to a decision. They have them take steps to understand the question, think through it, weight the options, and come to a final decision.
"The revelation occurred in the cereal aisle of the supermarket. I was sent to the supermarket with what seemed like simple instructions, which was buy a box of Cheerios. And it wasn't until I got the supermarket that I realized that there were 20 different kinds of Cheerios. There were original Cheerios. There were honey-nut Cheerios, apple-cinnamon, multigrain, the yogurt-with-the-berry thing, and then of course there are all the generic varieties of Cheerios.
And so I found myself spending literally a half an hour, 30 minutes, in the cereal aisle of the supermarket, trying to choose between boxes of Cheerios. And that's when I realized I had a problem, and I became really curious as to what was actually happening inside my head while I was struggling to make a decision." (Lehrer)
