The Prankster
You'll have have to be sneaky when attempting to set up this booby trap. Below are the the steps you'll need to take to be successful when pulling off this practical joke. Did I forget to say you'll need an egg for this?
*First arrive in class extra early and make sure your teacher or no one is around.
* Locate your teacher's chair and adjust the lever so the chair is at it's highest.
* Take the egg and put it in between the lever and the bottom of the seat, make sure it's snug.
* Leave the classroom quietly without anyone seeing you.
That's all there is to it, When the first bell rings, the fun and laughs will begin!
How to Make Fake Poop
Get the toilet paper roll and put it in the sink. Soak it in water until it becomes dark brown and slightly soft. Then, mold it into your poop and have fun pranking your friends.
In my opinion in the months September, October, and November, Doug really doesn’t change that much at all. For example, in September, Holling tells us that Doug’s brother made a list of 404 pranks to drive a teacher mad! Doug was preparing to do one of those pranks but waited until December to do it, but I don’t spoil it…”so if a southwest wind blows and blisters you all over,” go and read it yourself. Anyway, since Doug is called “The Class Prankster,” one would assume that Doug’s brother is a prankster too, since he came up with a list of 404 pranks to pull on a teacher. According to what Doug told Holling, our narrator, Doug’s brother did “something up in the 300’s or even # 404 itself.” Also another page in the text, it said that Doug's dad had to bribe the judge to get him out of prison! Doug did many pranks too in these few months, and made no attempt to hold back and not do pranks. So all in all, there was no change in Doug’s character and personality during September, October, and November at all.
Doug Swieteck reached the peak of the mountain, his climb to individuality. In my opinion he finished up the year strong and changed his personality from the beginning of the year, now to the mature Doug.
Thank you for sitting through this presentation.
It’s the end of the year and Doug is starting to turn his attitude around. He is no longer looking to play serious pranks and is trying to be helpful. For example, on the camping trip he carries up a sack to the campsite. It’s only a sack of marshmallows, but it’s still a sack and in September he probably wouldn’t have wanted to do it. Also, he helped set up and followed the rules. To add onto that, he dug the bathroom holes and put the toilet paper where they should’ve went and told people what the shovel was for and when to use it. Another thing that happened was when he went to the bathroom, (he took longer than normal because he had eaten canned chili for breakfast) when he came out hundreds of mosquitoes were following him and he actually helped shoo them away, instead of hiding. So, at the end, Doug finally turned his behavior around and contributed to doing chores which in the beginning of the year would’ve complained about.
1. In your opinion, in the month "June" do you think what Doug's contribution to help carry his pack was enough of him do?

2. Given Doug's experiences, do you think Doug's new personality will stay in him or leave him over the summer?

The Assassination of Robert F. Kennedy:
Robert Francis "Bobby" Kennedy, commonly known by his initials RFK, was an American politician from Massachusetts. He served as a Senator for New York from 1965 until his assassination in 1968. He was born November 20th, 1925.
Robert F. Kennedy was assassinated on June 5, 1968, by Sirhan Sirhan. He fired a .22 caliber Iver-Johnson Cadet revolver at Senator Robert Kennedy in the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles shortly after Kennedy had finished addressing supporters in the hotel's main ballroom. Sirhan killed him because R.F.K. supported the Israeli-Arab war, and Sirhan was Palestinian. When the shot was fired, the crowd surrounded him. Bobby’s wife’s name was Ethel Kennedy. They had 11 children together:Kathleen, Joseph, Robert Jr., David, Courtney, Michael, Kerry, Christopher, Max, Douglas, and Rory. Rory was born after Senator Kennedy was assassinated.
The Assassination of Martin Luther King jr
Dr. Martin Luther King. Jr. was one of the leading civil rights leaders in the 50’s and 60’s. He fought for black people’s civil rights for many years.
He was born on January 15, 1929, in Atlanta, GA. He grew up in a religious family and always wanted to make a difference in people’s lives. He married Coretta Scott King in 1953 and they had 4 children together: Martin Luther King III, Yolanda King, Bernice King, Dexter Scott King. He made many speeches and talked to many people to try to make the lives of black Americans better why fighting for equality and the ending of segregation. However, not everyone liked his message. He was assassinated April 4, 1968, in Memphis, TN by James Earl Ray.
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was most influenced by Mahatma Gandhi and Abraham Lincoln, two people who fought for peace and equality. Some of MLK’s most famous quotes are:
“Life's most persistent and urgent question is, 'What are you doing for others?’”
“Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.”
“Faith is taking the first step even when you don't see the whole staircase.”
His most famous speech, the “I Have a Dream” speech took place on August 28, 1963 in Washington D.C at the Lincoln Memorial. In this speech, he talked about people of all skin colors and religions coming together to unite America and “let freedom ring.”
The original speech can be viewed here: https://www.archives.gov/press/exhibits/dream-speech.pdf
His work and words will always live on and influence our daily lives, culture, and society as we try to better our world.
In the month of March there was a very powerful example of figurative language. The quote is
“At the same time Sycorax and Caliban hit the bottom of the fence and ran into the parking lot looking for me, a school bus was coming back from the late-afternoon run. The driver later said that she saw the rats and tried to swerve but that they leaped onto their hind legs and jumped in front of her. She slammed down on her brakes, but the rats stood their ground, their paws up, their snouts back, their yellow teeth clacking, their demon eyes flashing-none of which you’d been able to recognize among the squashed bits when the bus, after skidding on the suddenly slick asphalt, finally came to a stop.”
First paragraph on page 180
In January Doug gets into a lot of trouble with his brother. Doug’s brother wants to embarrass Holling, and he found out a way he could. He (Doug's Brother) woke up extra early and stole all the front pages of the Home Town Chronicle newspaper. On each of them he painted (not in the lines meaning messy) Hollings picture which read “Holling Hoodhood as Ariel the Fairy Soars Onstage to Rescue His Potent Master.” When Doug’s brother ordered Doug to help paint the pages, Doug refused. When he said no, Doug “took one for the team” and got a black and blue eye courtesy of this brother. Doug’s brother went to school early (which he never does; he usually just plays hooky all day most the time) and put the pictures everywhere. He put them in all of the hallways, the gym, and the front of the building (nobody figured out how he got that high without a ladder. He also put them in the girls’ bathroom; Meryl Lee told Holling that. Doug was not willing to share all of the details about how these pictures got to where they were. Doug walked in the classroom and everyone asked how he got a black and blue eye, he wouldn’t tell. Danny even threatened to give him a matching one on the other side. The only person he told was Holling because Holling said he’d give Doug one of his free cream puffs. In my opinion, the month January, Doug really matured much more from the start of the year unlike his brother whose ambition took over and enveloped him.
Doug's Climb to Individuality
I think the month December had a big impact on Doug Swieteck. For example, when the Yankees came the text on page 98 said that Doug Swieteck raised his hand slowly which could be hinting at his personality changing a little bit. On page 99 Doug Swieteck got his mitt and baseball signed by Joe Pepitone and Horace Clark, which is important because not alot of people had their mits signed by them. Also, Doug got Joe Pepitone or Horace Clark’s cap, and two tickets to the opening day to Yankee Stadium, which Doug brought his dad. In Addition, he took prank # 166 home and said he won't be needing it. And that's why I think he matured a little bit more, because he is doing less pranks on his peers and his teachers.
