Arrest

Modus operandi

Gordon Stewart Northcott

Born in 1908 in Saskatchewan, Canada. Northcott had an uncle who got a life sentence in San Quentin for murder and claimed to be "sodomized" by father at age 10. Gordon lived on a poultry farm in Wineville, California with mother, Sarah Louise Northcott, and 15 yr. old nephew, Sanford Clark.

("Gordon Northcott I Murderpedia, the Encyclopedia of Murderers.")

Gordon's arrest was partly his own fault

  • He showed pre-offense behavior due to the fact that he was never considered as a suspect until a noise complaint was filed against him.
  • Sister of nephew also encouraged parents to call police.
  • Gordon's nephew Sanford confessed to the murders which lead to the arrest of Gordon and his mother Sarah Northcott.
  • While incarcerated Northcott would flip between pleading his innocence and then confessing that he killed up to 16 more boys
  • He was known as a pathological liar and enjoyed the spotlight, but when it came time to point out where the other bodies were located he would recant his story
