Six hour Searching for the Stars Director Training

  • We will meet for a required 6 hour training.
  • This training must be attended by someone who has the ability to make changes to policy. (Owner/Director).
  • Please feel free to also bring Assistant Directors.
  • Bring all center/home policies and any written procedures with you to the training.

So what is next?

You will continue to

receive Technical Assistance

if you choose.

You will have an unannounced

monitoring visit approximately

1 year and 2 years

after your assessment

We will check licensing at least

quarterly for deficiencies and

you are required to report

critical deficiencies

and staff changes

You will be re-assessed before the completion of 3 years. You are responsible for submitting an application as soon

as you are ready for your

assessment and not

exceeding 2y 11m from the

date of your previous

assessment.

Director/Mentor visits are designed to assure you are aware of all met/not met measures of the assessment and to provide mentoring to help meet these measures.

Director/Mentor visits are NOT designed to cover all measures.

ALERT!!!!!

IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT YOU, THE PROVIDER ALWAYS:

1. Report to the TRS staff all DFPS licensing visits and deficiencies.

2. Report Director or qualified staff changes immediately.

3. Complete and e-mail a new Site Data form when changes occur.

Communication is PARAMOUNT! We want to help you stay on track!

Step 4:

Director - Mentor Visits

12-month DFPS licensing history, the provider had:

2. Any “critical” deficiencies listed in the TRS guidelines;

3. Five or more of the high or medium-high licensing deficiencies; or

4. Ten or more TOTAL licensing deficiencies of any type

Application and Self Assessment

It is time to complete and turn in your application, self-assessments, and all other required documents! Your Mentor will help you by explaining the process and answering any questions you may still have. Your mentor will then recommend you are ready for assessment and give all documents to the assessor.

Five categories for assessment

1. Director and Staff Qualifications

2. Child/Caregiver Interaction

3. Lesson Plans and Curriculum

4. Nutrition/Indoor and Outdoor environment

5. Parent Education and Involvement

YOU MADE IT!!!

Step 6:

Assessment

  • Start Assessment
  • Meet with the owner/director upon arrival
  • Review all met/not met measures
  • If all required measures are met, review any remaining documents
  • Observe classrooms up to1.5 hours each including outside play, and a meal/snack time
  • Meet with the Owner/Director to complete an Assessment Visit Report
  • Notify the Owner/Director of the star level certification

NOTE!!!

Once your star level certification is assigned you will likely not see your assessor again until the one-year unannounced monitoring visit. Your mentor will be your point of contact when you have questions and/or concerns.
