The cause of my superstition is:
people put coins on the eyes of the dead so that the souls of the dead had money to pay for a ride across one of the rivers to get to the land of the dead. This is because they no longer belong in the land of the living.
The effect of my superstition is:
By doing this people knew that the people whom they have lost were going to be okay because they knew they had a ride to the land of the dead. Also known as heaven or hell(to to the people of Greece it was known as the underworld that was ruled by Hades. And the rivers were owned by Hades, these rivers were named, Styx, Acheron, Lethe, Phlegethon and Coctyos). Back then if the coins weren't put over they knew that the soul would be trapped in the land of the living and find someone else to kill along with them.

THE BACK STORY
Hi my name is Lucas Habibulah as most of you know. To me, superstitions are things people believed in to ensure safety or make them feel right as if what they were about to do was going to make things right. A superstition is a belief that started as something small but became stronger as time passed. Along with time the superstitions were passed through generations. Those superstitions aren't small anymore. Everyone knows about them. The only question is, do you believe in them?
Greek Mythology-776 BC - present
Yes this superstition is still present especially in Mexico. The priests in Mexico put coins on the eyes of the dead for the same reasons. Also the Amish people do this as well.
This superstition started in ancient Greece. It is believed that it all started when Kronos the father of the Gods and the leader of the titans had eaten his children. Zeus the only child to not be eaten had made his father cough off the children. Then Zeus and his brothers and sisters waged a war against their father and his ruthless titans. During the battle Hades, brother of Zeus and God of the underworld, put coins on the eyes of the dead soldiers so that they could pay for the ride to the underworld which would be their new home.
