Beowulf vs the Dragon

Beowulf hears of Grendel terrorizing the Danes and decides to travel to help defeat him.

She is seeking to avenge her son's death. She kills one man, an advisor or Hrothgar, at Heorot but then retreats home.

Sheafson is a Danish King whose son was Beow. Beow's son was Helfdane and the kingdom was passed down after each of them passed. Hrothgar is king now.

After receiving more praise from King Hrothgar, he and the Geats return and go to King Hygelac. Beowulf tells the story of what happened in Denmark.

Fifty years after Beowulf acquired power, a dragon is awoken because a slave, on the run from his master, steals from the dragon. The dragon begins to attack the Geat people every night. During the battle Beowulf is having trouble so Wiglaf joins him. His assistance helps Beowulf kill the dragon.

Beowulf becomes King

Beowulf Dies

Beowulf is asked by Hrothgar to kill her. He travels to her underwater home and defeats her when he beheads her with a magical sword.

After King Hygelac dies followed by Heardred, Beowulf becomes King of Geatland.

Beowulf and his men fight Grendel in the mead hall. Beowulf rips off Grendel's arm from the shoulder. Bleeding profusely he runs off toward his home and dies there. His arm is used as a trophy in the mead hall.

Heorot is a mead hall created by Hrothgar and is a place for his warriors to feast and drink. Grendel, a descendent from Cain, wanted to enjoy the nightly entertainment. He was angered by the songs about God's creations. He killed 30 men after they had fallen asleep and would attack the Danes for 12 years.

During the battle with the dragon, Beowulf received a venomous bite in the neck. He succumbs to his wound. He spends his last breaths with Wigalf and gives him his wishes for what he wants to be done to his body. His pyre is built to Beowulf's liking, his body is placed in it, and then burned.
