Why does

caffeine keep you awake?

  • The reason caffeine keeps you awake is because the nerve cell in your brain mistakes it for adenosine.
  • Adenosine is produced by your daily activity and is the chemical that causes people to feel the sensation of sleepiness.
  • When caffeine bonds with the adenosine receptors in your brain it causes the cells to speed up rather than slow down as it would if it were bonded with adenosine.
  • Energy drinks have been linked to many health conditions including impaired cognition, risk of drug abuse,an increased risk of alcohol injury and dependence, the risk of a miscarriage and heart problems.
  • Studies have shown that the consumption of coffee does not play into any major heath conditions but any caffeine is linked with migraines, stress, emotional disturbances, among other issues.

Coffee

  • The ingredients involved in a cup of coffee are truly mind blowing: Coffee and water.
  • Of course there is also caffeine but it isn't added to the drink, it is found in each cup of natural coffee.

Energy Drinks

Okay so I'm sure you get the idea..

  • Often times coffee does contain more caffeine but the extra amino acids, B vitamins, antioxidants, and sugar, along with other ingredients make energy drinks very unhealthy.
  • Often times energy drinks do not mention how much caffeine is inside them and in some cases companies have even lied about the caffeine amount.

IN CONCLUSION

  • You are much better off staying away from energy drinks.
  • Coffee is a much better choice of energy, it is natural and doesn't contain anything even close to as harmful as what is in energy drinks.

What are they and why do we use them?
