Skillful Period

  • 11+ years
  • Efficient Physiological Behavior

Began skateboarding, playing lacrosse, running distance, and gymnastics.

At this period, had spent a lot of time on the soccer field, but also with the neighborhood kids playing backyard games.

Context Specific Period

Compensation Period

  • 7-11 years
  • Skills unique to individual
  • Context based knowledge and experience
  • Coincide with changes of cognitive capabilities
  • Injury Induced
  • Skilled Individual compensates for change in organismic constraint
  • Compensation from previous level of skillfulness

Also, began to realize that I was shorter than a lot of my peers, and decided to work to be faster and stronger.

The End!

There is a week difference between these two videos, routines to be done had to change due to a sprained ankle injury that had happened. Much of the movements had to change due to the inability to use my ankle and had to compensate to perform.

Fundamental Motor Period

  • Approx. 1-7 years
  • "Base camp"
  • Building blocks for later emerging skills
  • Considered phylogenetic

Began playing different sports. Learning to run, throw, climb, and how to understand my body.

Pre-adapted Period

Although not at the specific period, I did learn how to sit up on my own at around 6 months of age. Looking at the photo on the right, would always be grabbing my toys, then once learned how to walk, I would walk around everywhere with them.

  • 2 weeks post birth - 1 year
  • phylogenetic behaviors
  • Biological constraints play the biggest role
  • Require non-specific environmental support

Birth!

Born August 12, 1995

Berlin, Wisconsin

Reflexive Period
