1854: He was appointed to the legislative council

1873:P.E.I joined confederation and he was administrative head of the Canadian militia on the Island

1854: John Hamilton Gray got a medal for capturing an enemy cannon

1831: he went to India and south America for the 7Th dragoon guards for 21 years

1852: he retired with the rank of captain

1858: he was chosen to represent the district of 4Th Queens in the House of Assembly

1863: John Hamilton Gray was Premier of Prince Edward Island

1867: John Hamilton Gray attempted to return to politics but sadly failed to get his party's nomination

1854: he was appointed to the legislative council

1867: John Hamilton Gray accepted the position of chief administrative council

1876: John Hamilton Gray had his last son at 65

1887: John Hamilton Gray died in his familys place in Charlottetown called ''inkerman house''

April 18, 1864, Gray said: “If the Provinces of Nova Scotia and New Brunswick were to be annexed to Prince Edward Island, great benefits might result to our people; but if this Colony were to be annexed to these Provinces, the opposite might be the effect. …We are here to maintain our rights, and we shall never enter a Union which will deprive us of this birthright.”
