The social classes interacted with each other when Dee the daughter of a poor southern family that thought and everyone knew she was one of the most successful people in their small town, little did she know her power would be tested when her mother told her no for the first time. There is a lot of greed in the story when Dee said "Can i have those old quilts?"(pg.320) she was asking her mother for the one thing she was cherishing for her other daughter Maggie.
Never get used to life being fair.
Dee the oldest daughter of the family always got what she wanted because of her being more outing and successful. In the story she she says "This churn top is what i need." (pg.319) she is saying that because she knows shell get what she wants and she has the power in the relationship between her and her mother.
In the story Dee is the upper class because she went to collage and she is now married to a wealthier man than the ones in her town. In the story the younger sister Maggie says how she feels when Dee comes back in to town from being gone for a while "Every it feels like so much lower than Dee once she comes back home from being gone."(pg316) she says that like she is miserable when her sister comes back because she feels like shes not worthy compared to her.
