BIbliography

No one actually knows when Louis Armstrong was born. Some say he was born on the Fourth of July in New Orleans, but this theory was later proven wrong in a biography about Louis Armstrong. Others say he was born on August August 4, but I prefer the Fourth of July for a musician that had such an impact on American jazz.

Over the course of Louis's adultod, he had taken many jobs, some musical, some not. One of these jobs included playing in a band on a river boat that traveled up the mississippi river where he learned to read music and play with a band.

He then went on to play in chicago with his old friend Joe "King" Oliver.

He soon left because the pianist (Who was now his wife.) told him to quit and try out for a solo job. He did as he was told. Soon, he became the greatest cornet soloist of all time. He was then accepted into the New York Philhimonic orchestra. This is when he was finnaly finished with his music.

After Louis was released from the home, he made good friends with Joe "King" Oliver, a famous blues musician at thetime. Louis started becoming known in his town as being a fantastic blues player.

Early life

When Louis was growing up, he was poor, but as I quote, “ I sure had a ball growing up in New Orleans as a kid. We were poor and everything like that, but music….. kept you rolling.” When Louis was eleven, he "Borrowed" his stepfather's revolver and fired it on The Fourth of July and was immediately arrested. He was then sent to Colored Waif's Home for Boys and soon joined their marching band. He was released in 1914 and went back to selling newspapers, and delivering coal and other odd jobs.
