  • Approximately 160,000 teens skip school every day because of bullying.

Bullying isn't a joke .

Paragraph One

Richard Peck Published his short story “Priscilla And The Wimps” on May 8, 2007. Richard Peck’s story is about a teenage girl that tries to live a normal life, besides the fact that she’s constantly getting bullied. “Priscilla And The Wimps” engages the audience because Richard chose to set the story about a theme which is that you should never let someone push you to your breaking point always stay confident in yourself. Priscilla saw an opportunity to show the bully what she's capable of ,so she took it. Priscilla getting so angry with the bully that she stuffs him in a locker and closes the locker leaving him inside. Consequently, there is a snowstorm, and school was closed for an entire week. Why does the author decide to end the story with the bully stuck in the locker? It helps the readers figure out the concept on why you shouldn’t bully someone because it will always come back to you, even when you're not expecting it.

Summary

"Speak Out To Bullying"

In Priscilla and The Wimps by Richard Peck, The main Character is named Priscilla. Priscilla is a very patient person. I think Richard Peck made this character because Priscilla is a intelligent person and most people would love a friend like Priscilla because she's a brave person, she stood up for what she believed in and showed the bully that she's stronger than she thought she could be.“She’s taking her time shoving her books into her locker and pulling on a very large-size coat. Then, quicker than the eye, she brings the side of her enormous hand down in a chop that breaks the Kobra’s hold on Melvin’s throat. You could hear a pin drop in that hallway. Nobody's ever laid a finger on a Kobra, let alone a hand the size of Priscilla.”

The story “Priscilla and The Wimps” by Richard Peck a short story that approaches bullying in a big matter. A group named “The Cobras” start to bully others as if it were a joke. Taking lunch money, threaten violence and use scare tactics to control one another. One day Priscilla had enough. In the text it states “Priscilla’s behind him in another easy motion. And with a single mighty thrust forward, frog-marches Monk into her own locker.” Priscilla knew something had to be done to teach him a lesson. The story ends with Priscilla getting so angry with Monk that she stuffs him in a locker and closes the locker leaving him inside. Consequently, there is a snowstorm, and school was closed for an entire week.

Richard Peck the author of the short story Priscilla and The Wimps decided to make the setting at a school.Richard Peck decided to write the story setting in a school to show how the gangs would take over the school hallways after school. In the text it say’s “And hurrying, since Clutter's Kobras made sweeps of the halls for after-school shakedowns”. A reader would enjoy reading Priscilla and The Wimps because it takes place in high school and it shows you how difficult it it to survive being a high school student like Priscilla.

Stand up for what you believe is right!

Bullies, bully others because they are hurt inside and want everyone around them to feel the same way. "It's not cool, so stop it".

Message

You should always do what's right even if it means standing up to a bully or someone you feel is treating another differently from everyone else. What you do to someone will always come back to you even when your not expecting it.
