My Motivation
Long Lasting Legacy
My crew and I have just entered the St. Lawrence mighty river, and settled in Quebec. However, my primary achievement is establishing an alliance with many of the indigenous, North Native American tribes, such as the Algonquin. Our relationship is thriving, and we recently have assisted these tribes in defeating their common enemy, the Iroquois, at Lake Champlain. As a result, the fur trade is booming, and we are receiving an abundant amount of wealth from the furs, in exchange for common French goods, such as knives and blankets. I will soon return back to my home country, France, to deliver the newly acquired furs (esp. beaver) , to the eager citizens. Oh what a marvelous expedition this is turning out to be!
I, Samuel de Champlain, have set off to discover a new route to Asia, by traveling Northwest through the Atlantic. Oh, I hope that the voyage will lead to prosperity, and be a success. Moreover, I am looking forward to tapping into the wealth of the country, Canada, possibly through the business of fur trading. King Henry IV has given me the opportunity to explore this territory, and bring back riches/goods to France. If on this expedition we are able to accomplish our goal to find a route to Asia, and gain much wealth from the territory, then this journey will surely lead to power and prosperity for the French society.
We, the French, are well respected by the Native American tribes, in the Quebec territory, and this has improved the fur trade for both us, the French, and Native American parties. This successful trade has enhanced both society's lives, and led to mutual success in both groups. The King of France has recently made me leader of New France (territories in Canada), and we have currently taken over the areas of the St. Lawrence River. I am pleased to announce that France is now controlling vast territories of North America, and is prospering.
