Just like the plant cell membrane which allows some substances in and out, the command center on the death star acts in the same way, allowing some ships in and out of the death star depending on if they are hostile or friendly. It is also semi preamble, as the man/woman in charge can chose/control what goes in and out.
Just like the Endoplasmic reticulum which transports substances and material throughout the plant cell, the central power column transports power and information throughout the death star.

Just like the Ribosomes which gets information from the nucleus and changes it into protein for the plant cell, the primary power amplifier receives power from the main power generator and increases that power for the ship.

Just like the cytoplasm which give the plant cell its shape, the steel outer hull gives it shape to the death star and holds everything in the death star in its place.

Just like the nucleus which controls the plant cell, nothing in the death star would run with out the main power generator, it gives power throughout the whole ship and directs the ship by giving a different amount of power to different parts of the ship that need it.

Just like the Golgi bodies which stores and ships proteins outside of the plant cell, the hanger of the death star acts in the same way, storing ships and supplies, for transport out of the ship to other ships, planets and galaxy's.

Just like the chloroplasts which produces food for the plant cell, the fuel collector collects/stores fuel for the main power generator and power cell to "Eat up" then give power/energy to the whole death star.

Just like the mitochondria which produces energy for the plant cell, the power cell produces energy for the death star which is then spread around and amplified by the main power generator, central power column and primary power amplifier.

Just like the cell wall which protects and supports the plant cell, the magnetic force field around the death star protects the death star from oncoming hostile ships and floating space debris.
