From the question we ask, we propose the hypothesis:
question: Why I can burn paper with match and cannot burn iron?
Why I can burn paper with match and cannot burn iron?
The pieces of metal when are exposed to a higher temperature or fire it will absorb the hot, but won't start a combustion reaction.
We need to answer the two questions to understand the topic
Our hypothesis is not confirmed. The metal can burn, but we will have to apply a very high temperature, or, that the metal appears with few density, as the case of the wool of steel.
* What is the combustion?
* How to burn metal?
The combustion is a chemical reaction of oxidation, in which generally a great quantity of Energy becomes detached in the shape of heat and light.
This project is investigating how the combustion of metal is produced, we first ask the question that encompasses our whole project, then do the hypothesis and then all the background research, where we will do all the research, and then do the experiment, with the results and the final conclusion.
Surface area versus volume
The combustion: is a high-temperature exothermic redox chemical reaction between a fuel and an oxidant,
Some substances to combine with the oxygen needed to be very hot. Fire raises its temperature up to the point that they can begin to burn
We use fire for seconds to the paper
The burning process, which is just rapid oxidation of the metal, has to bring nearby iron to its ignition temperature fast enough to sustain a chain reaction. Thick pieces of iron conduct heat away far too fast for the surface to ever reach the ignition point. But in very thin strands, there's nowhere for the heat to go, and a burning patch can race along the length of wire, converting a whole steel-wool pad into iron oxide-rust-in less than a minute.
We use fire for a few 10 seconds to screw.
Steel wool. Is a bundle of very fine and flexible sharp-edged steel filaments
lighter, steel wool, pile 9W container glass, paper, screw
It burns quickly
It will not burn
