Cell Analogy project: The cell phone as a cell

The Analogy of the cell as a cell phone

By: Michelle Mah, and Gabriella De Angelis.

In this project we will be explaining all the organelles in an analogy that we are sure you will all be familiar with. The cell phone.

Cover (Cell membrane)

Memory card (nucleus)

Antenna (Golgi Body)

Battery (mitochondria)

The memory card which acts as the nucleus contains the data in the phone.

The battery which acts as the mitochondria, is responsible for powering the cell phone.

the cover that acts as the cell membrane is responsible for protecting the inside parts of the cell phone.

The antenna which acts as the golgi body is responsible for sending out the data ( for example making telephone calls and sending text messages)

Key pad (Ribosomes)

Skeleton (Cytoskeleton)

Circuit board (Endoplasmic reticulum)

Data cable - USB port (Contractile Vacuole)

The key pad that acts as the ribosomes is responsible for creating messages or typing into a cell phone.

The skeleton which acts as the cytoskeleton is responsible for maintaining the shape of the cell phone.

The circuit board which acts as the endoplasmic reticulum is responsible for the transport system on the cell phone.

The Data cable - USB port acts as the contractile vacuole, it is when the data is taken away/by connecting it with another device

Sim Card (Lysosome)

Vibrator/Motor (Flagella)

The Sim Card which acts as the lysosome contains information needed to make/receive calls.

The vibrator/motor which acts as the flagella is responsible for creating movement of the phone
