It is clear from all the evidence and information I have supplied that keeping the homeless here is the right thing to do.
The homeless deserve to do as they please; this is a free country. They have caused no harm to our community and follow the rules we have here. They can help us and we can return the favor. A little bit goes a long way. If this was your family, would you still be voting against this?
There are 610,042 homeless people in the United States. This is a very large number and we should want to help, not reject the opportunity to do good.
The homeless are causing no harm to anyone here. They just want to live in peace as we do.
All humans have equal
rights in America, and these people are no different from you and I. This is a free country and they are not exempt from that.
There has been many testimonies of homeless talking about their time at a shelter. Christopher from Maine says, "I stayed at the Bangor Area Homeless Shelter from mid June 2010 till October 2, 2010. While I stayed at the shelter they provided me with help to get a job, a safe place to sleep at night and 3 meals a day. The staff was awesome. They helped me get the medications I needed and the help I needed for my various problems." This would feel so rewarding to give
hope to someone.
In my opinion, the homeless deserve to be here, but saying they deserve to be here is an understatement. They need to be here, and we need to help them. Having a homeless shelter here will reward everyone. They have done nothing to prove they are unworthy of living here. I see no reason for us to abandon someone when they are in need.
The homeless people have every right to build a shelter here. They are causing no harm to the families in this community. These people need our help and they could help us while we help them. When we were children we were taught to share and to help others in need. Think if this was your family. Then how would you feel about this topic?
The homeless have every right that we as humans have. If they want to build a shelter here, then they should be allowed to. Some argue that a homeless shelter next to a housing development is bad, but I argue that it is an opportunity to do good. This is a perfectly clear statement; everyone has equal rights.
The homeless are breaking no rules of the community by being here. They have not harmed anyone, and I don't believe they will. Since they have not broken any rules, why should they be punished?
Yard work is always a hassle to do with a busy schedule. The homeless could do it and we could pay them or supply them with meals. Instead of hiring a nanny or a yard work company we could all help each other out.
Joann is a U.S. army veteran who found herself homeless. She says, "The only thing I had when I came to Womanspace was my clothes. It’s no joke, being homeless. I didn’t have a place to wash, didn’t have a bed to lay down in. To wake up to that every day …" She also says, "....this place is a new start. I have a job now. This would not have happened if not for Womanspace. They made it happen for me. If I wasn’t here, I never would have got this job – and I don’t think I ever would have been happy again.” If you vote to keep the homeless here then we can work together to make people happy again.
We all have busy schedules these days, and the homeless could actually help us out. And in return we could help them.
